The Monthly Community Fire:
Tending A Living Culture
for all ages
No Community Council Fires through the remainder of 2024
Community Fire in The Kirkja takes place from 7 - 9 pm, takes place on the 2nd to last, or last Sunday of each month.
Come gather in an old way, to make prayers, offer blessings, grieve and celebrate All Life.
Formerly the Community Council this monthly event has been reimagined to invite us to turn our attention to the beauty and benevolence of the Living World that sustains us, in all its seen and unseen manifestations. To take a page from its book, so to speak, by bringing ourselves to the task of Creating and Tending A Living Culture.
What does A Living Culture mean to you? What would it look like to participate in creating and tending a living culture? We are all here because of the miraculously thriving living culture that is The World, to which we owe everything. On these nights around the fire we have the opportunity to share, to dream, to grieve, to plot and to scheme. A place to speak aloud the visions we each might have for how we want to tend but also to share what we’re already doing. But this isn’t a time for marketing or plugging the next workshop we’re offering. It’s a chance to come together in a very old way, around the communal fire, to speak to our piece of the web. And if we’re feeling lost, as if we aren’t sure what our piece or place is, this is a time to simply come and listen, and allow the nascent seeds within to be watered by the words and visions of others.
Please bring offerings for the Fire (anything that will burn cleanly, food, sweets, plants & flowers, paper & wood, spirits, essential oils, cotton/hemp/silk fabrics etc, no synthetics), songs and poems. Each fire will be unique, allowing ourselves to be guided by whatever is happening in our local and world communities.
Youngers and Littles are welcome as long as they understand the process of communal gathering with a focused intent. We will not stand on somberness but we will weave a sincere field of presence!
As always, please do not bring your dogs.
There is no registration required for this event. There is a minimum donation of $15 to cover firewood and Kirkja maintenance. Donations can be made via Venmo (@Christiane-Pelmas), or in cash when you arrive.
